Product Description: Noise reduction rating of 24 decibels Protection can be disabled when neededEPA noise reduction rating: 24 decibels when closed, 4 decibels when open (when used as directed)Conventional hearing protectors range in noise reduction ratings from approximately 0 to 30 (higher numbers indicate greater effectiveness).PROTECHS™ Flip to Answer® earplugs feature a dual mode, easily flipping from closed to open positions without the discomfort of removing. Durable and reusable, the earplugs stay comfortably in place for hours.Information required by EPA: When a hearing aid is worn as directed, the noise level delivered to the human ear is approximately approximated by the difference between the A-weighted environmental noise level and the NRR.Closed examples: (1) Environmental noise level measured at the ear is 92 dBA.(2) NRR is 24 decibels (decibels). (3) The level of noise entering the ear is approximately [92 decibels (A) - 24]68 decibels (A). Open example: (1) The environmental noise level measured at the ear is 92 dBA. (2) The NRR is 4 decibels (decibels). (3) The level of noise entering the ear is approximately [92 decibels (A) - 4]88 decibels (A). The noise reduction rating range of existing hearing protectors is approximately 0 to 30 (the higher the number, the more effective).
How to use the product: Hold your head and pull the top of your ear upward. Hold the plug with the other hand and gently push it into the ear canal until it fits well. For air travel, insert before boarding and remove after landing.
Precautions: Slowly twist to remove the seal. Do not cut the earplug. Inspect the plug before use and replace it if it is damaged or shows signs of use. Do not use for long periods of time. This product is for single use only. If you experience pain or discomfort when taking this product, stop taking it. Infants and children may be at risk of suffocation if earplugs are placed in the respiratory tract. For environments where the frequency of the sound is below 500 Hz, the C-weighted environmental noise level should be used. Improper fit of the device will reduce noise reduction. Refer to the enclosed product insert for proper fit. Hearing protection may be recommended to prevent the harmful effects of impulse noise, but the noise reduction rating (NRR) is based on the attenuation of continuous noise and is not an accurate indicator of protection from impulse noises such as gunshots.
