"Evangelion" refers to the fictional humanoid weapon featured in the 2007 film "Rebuild of Evangelion," directed by Hideaki Anno and produced by khara Inc.

Evangelion's official name is "General-Purpose Humanoid Decisive Weapon Artificial Human Evangelion," and in the film it is referred to as EVA. The story revolves around the United Nations secret agency NERV (Nerv), which employs Evangelions as a countermeasure against the mysterious "Angels," a threat to humanity's extinction. The Evangelions are used to destroy the Angels in the fortress city of "Tokyo-3." The Evangelion Unit-01, which is the motif for this product, is the unit piloted by the protagonist, Shinji Ikari, and features a distinctive purple and yellow-green color scheme. As the name EVANGELION 01 TEST TYPE suggests, it is considered a prototype for the EVA series.

The kit's coloring is based on the Evangelion Unit-01 from the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series. New molded colors are used to recreate the coloring of Evangelion Unit-01.
