The EF10 series was introduced in 1934 (Showa 9) and is equipped with the proven unit switch controller and motor generator introduced on the EF53 series.
As a freight locomotive, tractive power was prioritized, so gearing was increased and the top speed was limited to 75km/h. The leading bogie was also changed from the EF53's two-axle to a single-axle.
The EF10 series demonstrated stable performance, with 41 locomotives manufactured between 1934 (Showa 9) and 1941 (Showa 16), the most of any prewar electric locomotive.
One of the EF10 series' notable features is the fact that, due to the seven-year production period, the carbody and bogie shapes varied depending on the production period.
[Set Contents] Side beam snowplow, leading bogie (without snowplow), A-type on-board unit, KD coupler mounting base, etched license plates (12, 13, 14, 15), ward nameplate stickers
