Dilophosaurus (scientific name: Dilophosaurus) is a primitive theropod dinosaur that lived in North America and China from the Sinemurian to Plisskian stages of the Early Jurassic period.[1] It is characterized by a pair of crescent-shaped crests at the top of its skull, from which its scientific name, meaning "two-ridged lizard," comes. Its characteristic skull was relatively elongated and had a pair of crescent-shaped crests at the top. Because these crests were very thin and fragile, it is generally believed that they were primarily used for display.
