A clock with lines that add expression to the numbers. When laying out and breaking down the numbers on the dial, you'll notice that some typefaces work well on clocks and others don't. Many typefaces require fine-tuning the shape of the numbers to suit a clock, so I think a central part of clock design is the process of finding the right typeface. The ideal typeface, once painstakingly found, gives the clock something that's hard to express in concrete words: expression, personality, charm. I discovered this clock design while adding and subtracting lines, wondering what kind of expression the clock would have if the lines were gradually brought closer to the numbers. By limiting the indicators to numbers that are recognizable only in the clock's layout, I was able to create a clock with expressive lines.
