This is a sign of gratitude to the divine virtue of Amaterasu Omikami, the Imperial Ancestor, who "blesses everything with her light." The alcove is a place of purification and a place of the heart. The sacred name always embodies the teachings of the shrine: "Make use of everything, review, reconsider, revise, and forgive with a kind heart." It is imbued with prayers and wishes for the safety of the home, prosperity of one's occupation, development of one's hometown, and ultimately the prosperity and peace of the nation. Toyouke Omikami is responsible for procuring food for Amaterasu Omikami and is considered the goddess of food. He is the guardian deity of food and industry, bestowing the blessings of rice, food, clothing, shelter, and energy. He is enshrined at Toyouke Daijingu (Outer Shrine). Approximately 1,500 years ago, he was welcomed from Tanba Province as Miketsukami, the god of food offerings, in charge of Amaterasu Omikami's meals. Arakida Moriaki Arakida Moriaki is a descendant of Amanomito no Mikoto, who appears in the Nihon Shoki, and a former priest at the prestigious Ise Grand Shrine. He holds the select position of being able to handwrite the divine titles, and pours his heart and soul into writing them, imbuing them with divine virtue. There is no end to the desire to receive these titles from all over the country. The Arakida clan is a clan that hereditarily held the position of Negi (chief priest) at Ise Grand Shrine (Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine) until the end of the Edo period.
