This composite dial features Roman numerals for the 10, 11, 1, and 2 indices, Arabic numerals for the 4, 5, 7, and 8, bar indexes for the 3, 6, and 9, and a triangular hour marker at 12 o'clock. Commonly known as the "California dial," this dial design is not only unique but highly practical and was adopted by the military (navy). Because of its ability to accurately tell the time in any position, even underwater (even while standing upside down), it was known as a "high visibility dial" or "error proof dial."
