About the Actual Aircraft
Developed as a successor to the F-86 Sabre, a masterpiece postwar jet fighter, the F-100 Super Sabre made its first flight in 1953.
It successfully broke the sound barrier in level flight, becoming the world's first practical supersonic fighter.
It was powered by a single Pratt & Whitney J57 turbojet engine, achieving a maximum speed of Mach 1.3.
Its fixed armament consisted of four M39 20mm engines. It could be equipped with and operated missiles such as Sidewinder and Bullpup missiles, as well as nuclear bombs.
The F-100, an air superiority fighter, was later developed into a fighter-bomber version in response to military requirements.
The C and D models were developed with additional hardpoints to increase weaponry capacity and improve range.
In the 1960s, it served as a ground attack aircraft in the Vietnam War, and from the late 1950s it was also used by the air forces of four countries, including France and Denmark.
About the Model
This plastic assembly kit recreates the F-100D, a fighter-bomber version of the F-100 Super Sabre, the world's first practical supersonic fighter, which debuted in 1956.
The 1/144 scale model measures approximately 10cm long and 8cm wide.
The easy-to-assemble parts are manufactured by F-Toys and include two aircraft.
The design, featuring a slim fuselage with a nose-mounted air intake and swept-back wings, has been accurately modeled down to the panel lines, and the F-100D's distinctive refueling probe and long pitot tube have also been meticulously recreated.
The markings are selected to represent two aircraft models that have a significantly different feel from those of the U.S. Air Force.
Two decals are included: the Sharkmouth of the French Air Force's EC 4/11 Jura Squadron, deployed in Djibouti near the Red Sea from 1973, and the Danish Air Force's 725th Fighter Squadron, which defended Northern Europe.
Enjoy the appearance of these two aircraft that served in European air forces.
