Urinary symptoms are often encountered in palliative care settings. This is due to the fact that many of the target patients are elderly, which means that the target population is a later age group in which urinary symptoms first appear, and the impact of the cancer lesion itself on the urinary tract. Furthermore, urination is a physiological activity, and it is necessary to respect the individual feelings of patients, such as the shame and dignity that accompany it.
As such, urinary symptoms require a variety of responses, but currently there are limited opportunities to learn specialized knowledge about them. This article summarizes urinary symptoms from a multifaceted perspective, incorporating urology specialists as well as specialists in related fields and palliative care specialists.
