[Acala] Acala, affectionately known to the common people as "O-Fudo-san", is said to have originally originated from the Hindu god Shiva, who is the god of destruction and salvation, and is said to be the deification of the monsoon (storm). He holds a sword in his right hand and a rope called a lasso in his left hand. The sword symbolizes the sharpened wisdom of Dainichi Nyorai, and the lasso binds worldly desires. There are seated and standing statues, and it is common for him to sit on a rock throne with a flaming halo on his back. Acala is the most popular of the many Myo-o because he is one of the subordinates of Dainichi Nyorai, the supreme deity in esoteric Buddhism, and is the central figure of the Myo-o. He is worshipped with great faith, and people pray for the safety of their families, prosperity in business, and safety on the roads. He means the immovable venerable one, and appears with a terrifying appearance to save sentient beings who are difficult for the Nyorai to teach. It is said that this Buddha will protect us from all disasters and hardships, as well as accidents and calamities. The guardian deities of the 12 zodiac signs are Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva (for the Rat), Kokuzo Bodhisattva (for the Ox and Tiger), Manjusri Bodhisattva (for the Rabbit), Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (for the Dragon and Snake), Seishi Bodhisattva (for the Horse), Dainichi Nyorai (for the Sheep and Monkey), Acala (for the Rooster), and Amitabha Nyorai (for the Dog and Pig).
